Skin in the Game

Skin in the Game - Jackie Barbosa I'm familiar with Jackie Barbosa's writing but in a historical setting. I love her Lords of Lancashire books and when I heard she was releasing a contemporary with Entangled I was very excited as I like her writing style and was curious what she could bring to the table in a contemporary setting as contemporaries are one of my fave subgenres.

I really liked SKIN IN THE GAME. Though it wasn't as sexy as some other Brazen books I've read, this didn't bother me at all as I was fascinated with the characters and the story. As a European I'm not very familiar with football (the football they play in the US that is) and I loved getting more knowledge about it through this book.

Next to the romance, which developed fairly smoothly and quick, the characterization was well done and the development of the story was perfectly aligned with it. I liked Caleb and Angie both separately and as a couple but would have also loved a bit more intensity between them. There were moments I caught a glimpse of it and those moments I really loved.

I really enjoyed this first contemporary I've read by Ms. Barbosa and I hope the next story is about who I think it is.
