Rocked

Rocked - Taryn Elliott, Cari Quinn 4,5 stars

It's been a while since I read SEDUCED and as I didn't have time to re-read before I received the advanced copy of ROCKED that I won, I had to re-familiarize myself with the band members and their back-stories. This took me about one or two chapters and I was back in the thick of it! Though this book is about Deacon (bass player) we get enough glimpses of the rest of the band and the dynamic is evolving from the first book (prequel) now that they're signed and trying to become a big name in the music scene.

The combination of rock star and foodie romance was awesome. It was like two of my fave subgenreshad got together and made a baby that made me melt with its goodness. I loved reading about music, the tour and the performance bits as much as the cooking and food bits. And there was in a nice bonus in the tattoo bit. And then there was the fights and fistfights...multiple ones and they just completed this book. The road to fame is paved with conflict and insecurities and there were many times the tension took my breath away.

The romance of Harper and Deacon was fabulously written. The build-up, the layers, the back-stories that were uncovered bit by bit, it all drew me in until I was surrounded by it and it wouldn't let me go, even when I wasn't reading. And it was hot, so effing hot! With all the emotions and the sweet moments and the urgency pitted against the rightness of it all, these scenes set the pages on fire and I could've done with something to cool off on many, many occassions.

I loved everything about this book. Both in the romance as in the evolution of the band there are obstacles to overcome and the authors did an amazing job. While not a fan of NA this series has drawn me in completely and I'm not leaving anytime soon.

Memorable scenes:
The popover-making scene > cute and hot
The tattoo parlor scene > I was glued to the pages
The shower scene > OMG!
The rainstorm scene > awesome until they were caught :)
The beating scene > OMG OMG OMG! (But still love a good fighting scene and this one was epic!)
Red Rock chapters > fave part of the book

Fave Quotes:
“Oh, man. You are twice blessed in this whole cooking gig. You gotta tell me your name.”
She stuffed a hunk of potato in her mouth. “Why do you care?”
“Because food orgasms are personal, and I need to know who’s giving me one.”

What she wanted to do was wrap herself around him, sob like a freak, and then fuck him blind.

The man was a damn temple of sin in skin.

“You don’t get to just blurt that stuff out, you know. I was enjoying a very satisfying orgasm and a perfectly boneless afterglow.” [Harper]
